CHOOSING TUCKER-MAXON
When you enroll your hearing child in Tucker-Maxon’s preschool program, you are laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning and citizenship.
By learning alongside children who are hearing impaired, our hearing students learn to value differences and believe in social justice.
Research consistently shows the long-term benefit of small class sizes, especially for young children.* In Tucker-Maxon’s preschool program, 2 and sometimes 3 highly qualified adults serve each class of up to 18, ensuring an intimate, child-centered school experience.
* See the American Teacher’s Federation website for a summary.
OUR PHILOSOPHY & CURRICULUM
We focus on language and speech development by creating a language-rich environment with many opportunities for open-ended discussion, hypothesis, and critical thinking.
Our preschool follows the widely-used Creative Curriculum (www.creativecurriculum.com), an age-appropriate, child-directed educational program in which children learn through play and stimulating hands-on activities. Our classrooms, daily schedules, activities, materials, and discipline strategies all reflect an appreciation of child development. To learn more about our curriculum, download our Curriculum Booklet.
OUR TEACHERS
Our preschool teachers are dedicated, creative, caring, and energetic. With a college degree in a child-related field, they are also highly trained. Our entire preschool staff complete CPR & First Aid training, child abuse awareness training, and have passed a thorough criminal background check.
