Giving

82% of a deaf student's education is paid by donations.
Max Tucker
The average cost of educating a Tucker-Maxon student with hearing loss is $28,200. The majority of this cost is paid by donations from foundations, corporations, and individuals. Your gifts make the difference. Since the days of Max Tucker, our namesake and first benefactor, individual donors have made extraordinary contributions to our school. Learn more about our donors>>
Since 1947, generous Tucker-Maxon donors have helped children with hearing loss in greater Portland enroll in educational programs that transform lives.  Financial gifts to our school help deaf children develop the essential listening and speaking skills needed to attend mainstream schools and participate fully in their communities.  In the 2005-2006 school year, private donations covered 82 percent of the cost of educating students who are deaf.  For 60 years, no child with hearing loss has ever been denied admission because of financial need.

To learn more about the many ways to give, contact Development Director Laura Sanders (503-234-7830; lsanders@tmos.org). Giving options include gifts of cash, gifts of time, planned giving, corporate giving, and gifts in honor or in memory. All gifts are appreciated.
